NCL Poway has a wide variety of projects, or philanthropies, for which our members volunteer time, effort, and donations. These include:

Interfaith Community Services
Women in the Interfaith Community Services Program are welfare mothers who are difficult to employ as a result of substance abuse. The goals of the program are to see that these women gain employment, sobriety and good parenting skills through treatment, training and transitional help.
Patronesses and Ticktockers have collected donated goods to furnish apartments in Escondido for these women during their transition. These apartments had to be refurbished, so we helped by painting, cleaning and decorating. We have also helped by providing Thanksgiving food baskets for these women and their children,Christmas gifts and toys, clothing and books. We have given birthday parties for the children, Halloween Carnivals and a Fall Festival. In the future, we will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for the children.

Palomar-Pomerado Health Foundation
The purpose of the foundation is to assist the health system by raising funds to promote their programs such as the Family Violence Shelter, Neonatal Intensive Care Program and Partners for Community Access.
Ticktockers and Patronesses have provided the Family Violence Shelter families with food for Thanksgiving, Christmas gifts and Easter baskets. We painted the office, decorated it for Christmas and provided magazines for women and children. Patronesses and Ticktockers babysit the children while the mothers receive counseling.

Special Olympics
The purpose of this organization is to give people with handicaps a chance to participate in athletic events.
Ticktockers and Patronesses have helped with track and field, softball, bowling and floor hockey. We will be helping with their new swimming program on Saturdays through September.

Poway Senior Center
This center serves the senior citizens living in Poway by providing them with activities, inexpensive lunches and home delivered meals.
Ticktockers have modeled at a vintage fashion show. Ticktockers and Patronesses have delivered meals to homebound seniors, served lunches and helped at birthday parties and special events.

Poway Library
This library offers reading and educational materials to the Poway community. It also offers children's programs to encourage reading.
Ticktockers work at the library during the summer helping with a youth program to foster a closer relationship between the children of Poway and the library. Patronesses and Ticktockers have planned and worked at two Halloween Carnivals and helped with a Harry Potter Party designed to encourage children's enthusiasm for reading.

San Diego Humane Society
The Humane Society serves San Diego by sheltering and encouraging the adoption of animals. The society educates the community about the humane care of animals and responsible pet ownership. The Humane Society is also involved in rescuing animals and sharing animals through pet-assisted therapy.
National Charity League has helped at fundraising events such as the Fur Ball, Annual Telethon and the Walk for Animals. We helped fix up and paint murals on the walls of the animal shelter. We have also helped at the summer camp to encourage children to learn about responsible care for animals. We have made decorations for the kennels to encourage adoptions and have baked doggie biscuit treats for families to give to their newly adopted pets.

Poway Unified School District
The purpose of the Poway Unified School District is to ensure a quality education for its students by providing the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for success in a diverse society.
Patronesses and Ticktockers have worked at New Directions, an alternative program for young parents who are trying to graduate while caring for their babies. We have also worked at Midland After School Program to help children at risk with homework support, recreation and values clarification. Some of our Patronesses and older Ticktockers are acting as mentors to students, meeting with them weekly.

American Cancer Society
The purpose of the American Society is to fight cancer by providing donations to fund research, education advocacy and patient services.
We have helped by distributing collection bags and information for the Discovery Shop, an upscale resale shop in Rancho Bernardo. We also volunteer to work in the shop, sorting and pricing goods. We have wrapped and delivered daffodils to cancer patients for the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days Program as well as the Relay for Life.

I Love a Clean San Diego
The purpose of this organization is to protect the environment by picking up trash on beaches and lake shores that could endanger wildlife.
We have cleaned up several beaches and parks. This program is only held 2 or 3 times a year.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity operates in partnership with economically disadvantaged people in the San Diego area to eliminate poverty housing by building and repairing homes for those in need.
We will be working on a house in Escondido.

Poway Center for the Performing Arts
This foundation underwrites performances at the Poway Performing Arts Center to present educational and community outreach programs.
We have helped with the Children's Theater Workshop and have helped to hostess performances and fundraising events. We have also done clerical work in the Foundation Office and usher at performances.

Mother's Against Drunk Driving
MADD works to stop drunk driving, support victims, and prevent underage drinking. NCL Poway assists at MADD booths, community events, health fairs and at the annual "Strides for Change" event.
Patroness and Ticktockers have baked cookies to give to police and sheriff's officers at sobriety checkpoints. NCL also sold tee-shirts at the opening of Route 56.

Make-A-Wish
NCL has raised funds to make a child's wish come true. We assist at the annual "Wags for Wishes" Dog Show and the "Tuna Challenge" fishing competition, raising funds to grant wishes.

My Girlfriend's Closet
NCL Poway donates, sorts and distributes gently used clothoing for girls in homeless shelters and foster care programs.
